According to my understanding of Descartes' theory, he believes that his mind and body are two distinct things. Arendt on the other hand does not so clearly delineate between the two. In fact, she says that thinking only comes about as a result of the interaction between the two "beings." In addition, Arendt's separation, essentially of person and conscience, is probably more of a metaphor than what Descartes argued.
